Wine shop Gommers, the shop with the highest wine content per square meter!
Wine shop Gommers has existed since 1989. After working in the catering industry for a dozen years, Marian and Leon Gommers decided to focus entirely on the sale of wines and port. Everyone entering the store is overwhelmed by the large selection of wines in the small, cozy shop. Besides the well-known wines, there is plenty of room for striking characteristic wines from their own imports. It is mainly these wines, with their own story, that give the store its own identity.
After his education at the Hotelschool Wageningen, Leon attended the Vinologist of the Wine Academy and since 1986 he has been able to call himself Vinologist. In 1996 he took part in the first annual competition for the title "Vinologue of the Year" and finished as a winner. He can therefore call himself the Vinologist of the year 2007. In the following year, he took second place. Combining food with wines is a major challenge for Leon. With the wide range of wines he has at his disposal, he always knows how to make a classic, adventurous or challenging combination for you.
In 2018, Wijnhandel Gommers received several silver and bronze medals from the U.S. www.wine-searcher.com for his assortment in among others the categories Overall list in Utrecht, Bordeaux list in Utrecht, French List in Utrecht and European List in Utrecht.
Marian Gommers also attended the Wageningen Hotel School and is responsible for the administration within the company.
