De wijngaarden van Vajra liggen ten noordwesten van de plaats Barolo en zijn vanaf het begin biologisch bewerkt. De hoge ligging van de wijngaarden (de Bricco delle Viole behoort tot de allerhoogste wijngaarden in de Piemonte) zorgt voor hoge temperatuurverschillen tussen dag en nacht. De druiven rijpen langzaam en volledig, en geven de wijnen een prachtige finesse en elegantie. Het druivenras Freisa is een ras dat verwant is aan Nebbiolo en vroeger ook werd gebruikt voor het maken van Barolo. Dit is een krachtige rode wijn met veen body.
